Fiddles for Sale

First of all, many Thanks to Bill Elliott for hosting pictures of my fiddle
for sale. I don't know if you can ever have too many fiddles, but I guess
there has to be limit somewhere, and the rest is history. The fiddle
is currently on display at Acoustic Traditions in Orangeville if your in

Fiddles By Burton Greene

This fiddle was made by Burton Greene of Bear River Nova Scotia. He is
renowned locally for making high quality fiddles and violins. He has made
violins for local and international players and some of his works are owned
and used by a member of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra.

This fiddle produces an amazing volume with exceptional tonal response from
top to bottom. Each piece including all hardware was hand made by Burt.
Even the chin rest and tuning pegs were hand carved by him rather than using
pieces from a store.

When I purchased the fiddle, Burton spent several hours with me drinking tea
on a hot July afternoon and playing tapes of young local fiddling wonders
that came by every Wednesday night for a Caleigh at his place. He explained
how he learned to make violins from a friends and local master, and how he
selected woods based on his knowledge gained from 40 working in the
forestry. He knew how and where to get his materials.

This fiddle is more than a fine musical instrument; it is history in the
making. Price $900.00.
