About The Camp

We welcome you to the Orangeville Fiddle and Step Dance Camp located in the beautiful rolling hills of Adjala Township, in Simcoe County. Join us for instruction in traditional Canadian old time fiddling, traditional step dancing and "Ottawa Valley" style step dancing with some of the best instructors Canada has to offer.
The Orangeville Fiddle and Step Dance Camp is a camp for all ages, designed to accommodate all skill levels and yes, beginners are welcome! For experienced fiddlers, the camp is a great place to enhance your skills, technique, and further develop your personal style. Step dance students will learn new steps, improve their abilities, and learn the principles of performance.

Additional workshops will provide an opportunity for participants to gain insight into such topics as playing "back up" fiddle, fiddle competitions and the strategies of the competitor, jam etiquette, and stylistic playing through expression, interpretation, and ornamentation.

Bring your recording device to record instructions and new tunes.

Each evening there will be special performances featuring one or more of our instructors allowing them to "strut their stuff". Afterwards, there will be a slow jam for all and participants can bring along additional instruments to add to the experience.

Additional camp activities will include swimming, outdoor activities, a barn dance, a teen dance, and campfires.

On Friday night there will be a final concert showcasing the achievements attained throughout the week, an instructors performance, and one grand finale tune that will include all participants onstage as a fiddle orchestra.
In a fun camp atmosphere, wonderful setting, and great food, learning and making new friends will be an unforgettable experience.

*Dear Bill,* John and I would both like to take the opportunity to thank you for all the work you do in organizing such a special camp. Danielle thoroughly enjoyed herself for the second year and definitely intends to attend next summer. She played for 3 hours on Sunday following the camp. John & Josephine Martensson, Orillia. To the Instructors of the Orangeville Fiddle Camp: Luke (age 10) couldn't say enough good things about you all on the 4 hour ride home last night.
