The Orangeville Fiddle and Step Dance Camp is dedicated to
promoting the art of traditional Canadian old time fiddling as well as
traditional and Ottawa Valley step dancing. Music has the power to change
and enrich people's lives and we, at the Orangeville Fiddle and Step Dance
Camp, strive to be leaders in cultivating a love for this powerful cultural
heritage.
By providing the participants the opportunity to truly experience this art
form through instruction, high quality performances, workshops, and a
variety of extra-curricular activities, we maintain our reputation for
creative and stimulating programming which enables the participants to
expand their musical horizons. Our relaxed, intimate, welcoming atmosphere

Karen Reed - Camp Director
With over 40 years of fiddling
experience, Karen brings her expertise to the camp in an engaging manner
that will inspire all participants. Over the years, she has been a
competition fiddler, fiddle contest judge, fiddle instructor, and performer.
To date, Karen continues to serve as a fiddle contest judge, instructor, and
performer. Her passion for fiddling combined with her passion for people, as
a part of the fiddle/step dance community will create a dynamic musical
environment filled with life and energy. Karen also has over 25 years of
experience working with youth and will be responsible for the supervision,
implementation, and scheduling of all camp activities. She will ensure that
the needs of all participants are met.
Instructors for 2010 will include
Karen Reed, Cindy Thompson,
Randy Morrison, Eric Provencher, Doug McNaughton, Celina DiCecca, Jake
Charron - Accompaniment - guitar & piano, Sarah Robinson, Chanda Gibson.
We will be offering accompaniment
lessons on guitar and keys by one of Canada's most sought after accompanists
- Jake Charron. Bring your guitar and keyboard.
Our instructors have been
winners and finalists at major contests in Canada and the U.S.A., and have performed all
over the world. Other instructors that have been to fiddle camp over the
years - Graham and Eleanor Townsend, Chuck Joyce, Pierre Schryer, Rob
Dagenais, James Bickle, Dan Stacey and Chanda Gibson.
